I’m not someone who wears makeup everyday (or even if I do, I don’t wear a lot at all most of the time) so I can’t justify trying out too many make-up items or spending too much money on them. When I do wear any make-up at all, eyeliner is definitely at the top of the list with some sort of face coverage (Concealer, BB-Cream, or Foundation) and I am a victim of the oily-eyelids-can’t-wear-a-lot-of-the-eye-make-up-stuff (lol) condition. So I would say that staying power is at the top of my list of criteria of what a good eyeliner should be for me.
So here are the three eyeliners I am comparing today:
The world famous Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion as well as Maybelline‘s Master Precise Liquid Liner and a Korean brand Nature Republic liquid liner.
I’m not quite sure about Nature Republic as it was gifted to me by my cousin who went to Korea earlier this year and a lot of the markings have come off now. But It comes on the most sheer out of the tree so I have to normally layer 2 or 3 times. This doesn’t run down my face but rather disappear in patches on the lid – so although I don’t look like a raccoon, I still look somewhat strange. Not sure which look I’d prefer.
The Maybelline eyeliner is probably the best in terms of accessibility and price (well I can only compare the price with Urban Decay) at just under AUD $10. With this eyeliner, I can finish my eyeliner in one or two layers to get the intensity that I like. The brush tip allows for a lot of control, however, this stuff does run down my face after about 4 or 5 hours of wear.
I came across Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil from Ingrid Nielsen (Missglamorazzi) on Youtube. She seems to have a similar problem to me with the oily eyelids and she recommended this one as well as one from the Nars brand (I want to try this too someday!). I really love the creamy texture and how I can put this on my waterline quite easily and this stuff stays put better than any pencil liners I’ve tried. It ran down my face a little bit after about 8 hours of wear but the good news is it’s not patchy! The bad news is, the cheapest place I found to buy this particular liner was BeautyBay.com and that was for about AUD$23 – twice the price of the Maybelline. In my opinion though, it was worth it since it’s solved a lot of my problems. Another thing is that since this is very soft, the tip goes out of shape very fast and I have yet to figure out how to take out the rest of the eyeliner so I can use it (other than the tip).
Summary Score Cards:
I realise that comparing these are like comparing oranges and apples to some people since they aren’t even the same type of eyeliner. But hey, I want a day where if I do wear eyeliner, I don’t want to look like a raccoon by the end of the day.
Overall, I would say that my favourite out of the three is the Urban Decay 24/7 just because it’s versatile and has great pigmentation and staying power. I would love to know the differences between this and the Nars Larger Than Life Long Wear Eyeliner someday but hey I think I got my hands full with these eyeliners (and some gel liners) for now.
Have you tried any of the eyeliners mentioned above? Are there any that you think I should try?
Lots of Smiles,
Sita
