10c MUD Nail Polish?

Wow, it’s been a while since I last posted anything hasn’t it…

Earlier this week, I was randomly going into Woolworths near where I lived and BAM. I saw what could possibly be a pot of gold (to me anyways…). Nail polish clearance for TEN CENTS. I am a nail polish lover if you can’t already tell by my previous posts or if you’re a new reader to my blog.

Ten 10c MUD Nail Polishes

When I saw these MUD Nail Polishes, I was a little sceptical of their quality since I haven’t heard of their brand before. But then I thought: “They’re 10c. If I buy ten of them, that makes $1. If they work awesomely then GREAT. If not, I’ll re-purpose them for some DIY or something. All else fails, I’ll just chuck it away. They’re only $1 total.” So I bought ten of them.

I tried most of them on my ten fingers with two of the colours repeated and another two I didn’t use. I did my nails on Monday with the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Hardener for the base coat, two coats of the colour, and Sally Hansen Mega Shine top coat (my favourite base and top coats ever!). It is now Friday and other than slight wear on the edges of my nails, I don’t see any chips which is amazing!

Plus, don’t you think that photograph of the nail polishes summarise “Sprinkle O’Rainbow” really well? 😀

Sally Hansen Nail Polish Haul [Indonesia]

So I went to Indonesia for 2 months. That explained my “disappearance” in December and January. But don’t worry, I’m back.

In Indonesia, I bought some nail polishes. A set of 3 Sally Hansen nail polish and also their acrylic base coat, which I have been wanting to try for a while. I knew that some Guardian stores (a drugstore in Indonesia) sells Sally Hansen products but I only just found out that Sogo (a major department store) actually sells them. The price is significantly lower than Australia so I had to get a few.

The three Complete Salon Manicure polishes came in a box set for Rp. 290 000,- or about AUD $29.

I absolutely love the consistency and brush of this Sally Hansen line for doing an all-over colour since the brush is flat and wide. So if you’re not into flat, wide nail polish brushes, you might not be into this.

The line also claims that it is a base coat as well as a top coat. Though I always use a base coat and top coat still even when using the complete salon manicure.

I used this base coat underneath my valentine’s day nails and I’m not sure if it was the base coat or some outside-forces (i.e. I may have been working more with water, etc lately) but the staying power is not as great as my usual manicures. I will have to try it again and make up my mind later…

Gloss [Perth] Haul: April 2013

If you didn’t know already, I’m a little bit of a nail polish addict. When there’s colour on my nails, I look at it and I feel happy. I especially feel so happy when I put nail art on them myself.

The Haul

Recently, it has come to my attention that there’s discount nail polish in the city (Perth city to be exact). This is thanks to Cindy from Rose Gold Whimsy. So we decided after our little trip to Harbour Town, we would continue our “outing” to the city for some lunch and to check out the discounted nail polishes Cindy mentioned – Gloss Accessories.

Voila! There were Revlon nail polishes, 3 for $12 and Sally Hansen nail polishes at 3 for $10.

I’ve been using Sally Hansen’s top coat and base coats for a while now (maybe 2 years?) and I love all the ones that I’ve tried. Sally Hansen’s colour polishes on the other hand, I haven’t really tried with the exception of one from their Xtreme Wear line in “Flirt”. With Revlon nail polishes, I bought some (more like a lot) a few months ago for just over $2 from an online discount store. So I decided to go for Sally Hansen.

I shared this deal with Cindy – I bought 2 and she bought 1. I got a Diamond Strength No Chip Nail Colour in number 30 “Lilac Chantilly” and a No Chip 10 day nail colour in white tip.

I also got this Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Speed Dry Drops which I have yet to try for about $6 which I think is a STEAL as they are normally around $10-$15 at drugstores.

I still don’t know how to use white nail polish properly – either that, or white polish is always streaky, or this one I got is really bad. But I love the Lilac Chantilly colour – which is a light purple colour, as suggested by the name and the picture.

The Insta-Dri Speed Dry Drops was interesting for me to open. It came with a lid and then the pipette is in a separate sealed plastic. I am excited to try this. In fact, I will try this right now. It does say in the bottle to “Apply base coat, nail colour and top coat. Wait for 60 seconds after applying top coat. Apply 1 or 2 drops to each nail.” I may be back with a review of this.

So that was all I got at Gloss. I’m not that into make-up so I didn’t even really look at the make-up there.
